Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 April 2026

This privacy policy explains how CookCalcs (cookcalcs.com) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit the site. CookCalcs is operated by Dan Dadovic from the United Kingdom.

Analytics: Google Analytics 4

This site uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site — which pages are visited, how long sessions last, and which calculators are most used. GA4 collects data such as:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Referring website or search engine
  • Device type, browser, and operating system
  • Approximate geographic location (country/region level, not precise)
  • Interaction events (e.g., button clicks, calculator usage)

GA4 uses first-party cookies to distinguish between visitors. IP addresses are anonymised by Google before storage. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.

How consent is handled by region

CookCalcs applies a regional consent posture detected at the network edge from your IP-based country (and US state where relevant). What you see depends on where you are visiting from:

  • EU 27, EEA (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), the United Kingdom, and Switzerland:a cookie consent banner appears on your first visit with two buttons — Accept and Reject. Google Analytics does not load until you click Accept. There is no “X to close” button; closing or ignoring the banner never counts as consent.
  • California, Brazil, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and Utah:no banner is shown. Analytics runs by default. You can opt out at any time using the “Privacy Choices” link in the site footer.
  • All other regions: no banner is shown. Analytics runs by default. You can clear our cookies at any time via your browser settings.

Your choice (granted or denied) is stored in your browser's localStorage under the key consent-status. localStorage stays on your device — it is never sent to our servers. You can clear it at any time via your browser settings, or via the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer (shown when the banner applies to your region) or the “Privacy Choices” link (shown for opt-out regions).

If you accept analytics, the following cookies are set by GA4:

  • _ga and _ga_* — Google Analytics cookies used to distinguish visitors and sessions. These expire after 2 years of inactivity.

Aggregate visitor counts: Vercel Analytics

CookCalcs also uses Vercel Analytics to count overall page views. Vercel Analytics is cookieless and does not store any identifier in your browser. It runs for all visitors regardless of region and provides only aggregate numbers — no individual tracking, no profile building, no advertising data.

Bot Protection: Cloudflare Turnstile

The feedback form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to prevent automated spam submissions. Turnstile is a privacy-preserving alternative to traditional CAPTCHAs. It does not use cookies for tracking purposes and does not collect personally identifiable information. Turnstile analyses browser signals to determine whether a visitor is human, without presenting a visual challenge in most cases.

Cloudflare's privacy policy governs how Turnstile data is handled. No data collected by Turnstile is shared with CookCalcs beyond a pass/fail verification result.

Email: Resend

When you submit the feedback form, your message is delivered to contact@cookcalcs.com via Resend, a transactional email service. Resend processes only the data you provide in the form (name, email address, and message) for the sole purpose of delivering that message. Resend does not use this data for marketing or share it with third parties.

Local Storage

CookCalcsstores small preferences in your browser's localStorage: your measurement system preference (US customary or metric) and, where the regional consent flow applies, your analytics consent decision (consent-status). localStorage never leaves your device, is not sent to any server, and contains no personally identifiable information. It persists until you clear your browser data or change the preference.
